How to take care of your Nisse
A Nisse is more than just a wooden figure – he is a little guardian, friend and everyday magician. Each Santa is handmade with care, and with the right care, he can stand by your side for many, many years.
Here are some tips for taking the best care of your Nisse:
🌲 1. Give him a safe place
Elves thrive best when they are allowed to stand in front of you – preferably by a door, in a window or among plants. They like to be able to keep an eye on your home (and sometimes your pets!).
🧹 2. Dust him occasionally
Use a soft brush or dry cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid wet cloths – wood does not like to get wet.
🔥 3. Protect from strong heat
Do not place your Nisse directly above radiators or in direct sunlight for long periods of time – wood may fade or crack.
🌧️ 4. Inside or outside?
Nisses are actually indoor creatures. They don't like getting wet or being exposed to the elements.
But – if you still want to keep it outside, that's fine. Just expect it to age faster: the paint will fade, the wood will crack a little, and the seasons will take their toll.
For many, that's exactly what makes it beautiful – a Nisse who has lived outside becomes part of the nature around him.
🕯️ 5. Give him accessories
Nissae like to have something to do! A small saw, a flower, a staff or maybe a candle makes him both happier and more alive. You can find accessories in my shop, or make your own!
🥣 6. Don't forget to show some love
Once a year – preferably on Yule Night – it is said that the Nisse appreciates a small bowl of porridge. Of course, a thank you, a smile, or a kind whisper will also suffice. How to take care of your Santa Claus
